Psychotherapy for Children and Adolescents

Children Ages 3-12

We see children as young as three years old for individual and family therapy.  Often, the work we do with children includes play therapy and art therapy, as these are often modalities that allow children a variety of ways to express their feelings and work through whatever issues bring them to our services.  In working with young children, we often ask for parents to be involved in sessions so that they can continue addressing the behaviors outside of sessions, and to help facilitate the process of change.

Most of the work we do with children in based on Cognitive-Behavioral theories of interventions, however at times we may incorporate other theory bases as well.

Adolescents (ages 13-18)

We also see adolescents (ages 13-18) for individual and family therapy.  While we continue to offer play therapy and art therapy interventions with adolescents, we also tend to move into more traditional "talk therapy" interventions with adolescents, again largely using Cognitive-Behavioral Interventions.  We see adolescents for a variety of mental health issues, including but not limited to depressed mood, anxiety, peer issues, substance use/abuse, and trauma.
